1-2-1 Home Tutors is also here to help parents, and parent groups, in Manchester & Cheshire

Welcome to parents and parent groups

This page is dedicated to parents and parent groups and here you will find links to local events and services we think you will find useful (please scroll down the page). We also offer the opportunity for parents to ask, without obligation, any question concerning the current education system and their child’s education and we will do our best to advise/point you in the right direction.

Didn’t get a place at your 1st choice secondary school? March 1st was National Offer Day and so many parents didn’t get their child into their preferred secondary school or even their 2nd, 3rd or 6th choices. But remember, you are not alone; competition was tougher than usual but there are options you may not have even considered – eg have you thought of later entry eg part way thorugh year 7, year 8, year 9? Its often the same test though the child is a year or more older and there is much less competition, despite there likely being only 1 or 2 places!  To read more…

Want to help your child with their numeracy (maths)

Teaching methods have changed enormously since we were in school and we so often hear it said  from parents that the reason they need a maths tutor to help their child with maths and numeracy is that they themselves can’t help. This is often because parents don’t understand the newer methods the children are being taught and instead of helping, end up confusing the child even more!

At 1-2-1 Home Tutors, we realise how frustrating it can be to not be in a position to help your own child and so can also offer classes to parents to show them the newer methods the children are being taught. In just one or two sessions our tutors can show you how to master the newer methods for basic arithmetic and maths. For some, this could work out to be  a more cost effective means of employing a tutor so if you are a parent looking to help your child with their learning, call us now to discuss taking on a tutor in Manchester or a tutor in East Cheshire

Drop in Q&A sessions

Wondering what other parents are doing to get their child into school? Wonder what level of achievement is expected of  children at the different stages of their education?

We offer parent groups, and similar organisations/groups, the opportunity to ask us questions on a face to face basis, free of charge. We can offer a short presentation on the education system to local (Manchester & East Cheshire) groups, tailored to an area of interest to suit the audience, followed by a Q&A session. We look at education holistically and  can offer independent advice, as we are not linked exclusively to any one school or education authority.

If you think there would be a benefit to a small group get-together to discuss education issues – issues such as getting into secondary school, GCSE’s, A levels, degree choices etc, then we are happy to come along to help answer questions. Drop us an email, or call us  to discuss/ arrange.

If you know of any groups/parents that would benefit from a Q&A session, or a short presentation then please pass on our details.
