Keep Calm and Revise

Nerves can get the better of all of us sometimes. But when you’re just about to take important exams, it’s vital to hold your nerve.

The trouble is that exam anxiety can be crippling. Our tutor team here at 121 Home Tutors support students with this issue all the time, especially those facing GCSEs and A Levels.

So what can YOU do today to help you stay afloat during your exams?

How to sail through the exam season

Make a revision plan: Set clear objectives for the day. Split up revision into different subject topics, then tick them off. Remember to build in a recall session the next day for a few minutes to check what you’ve revised – or set yourself an exam question on that topic.

Don’t spend hours revising one subject without a break either. Short bursts are better than sitting at a desk for hours.

Get proper rest: Stick to a routine – much as you would at school. Get to bed at a reasonable time so that you can rest properly – aiming to get up early to crack on with the day. There are some great mindfulness Apps available to help you wind down too.

Limit distractions: If you are addicted to your mobile phone, you have to be tough with yourself. Distracting yourself by checking social media can waste precious time. You can download an app which disables social media from your laptop and phone. Definitely worth a shot to stay on track!
