Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing the face of every day life.
But can you use it as part of your education? Should you use it?
The truth is, in a world of smart machines, the smartest learners are those who use them wisely.
Let’s look at how you could use AI when studying GCSEs or A Levels, and want to boost your revision.
AI Can Summarise and Clarify
ChatGTP is a popular tool that you can access on a desktop, tablet or smart phone. Should you use it for revision?
A useful thing to do is to ask it to simplify tricky concepts – or topics – into digestible chunks or bullet points.
- Create a bullet list of how and why the Battle of Hastings was lost?
- Explain photosynthesis as if I were 12 years old
- Generate three GCSE questions on electrolysis with model answers
A word of warning: AI should aid traditional learning, not replace it.
As you know, you can’t believe everything you read online. Cross-check with reliable sources to ensure accuracy.
Aim to use AI alongside traditional study materials like textbooks, past papers, and class notes, OK?

Kick-Start Essay Responses
Study AS or A Level Literature? You could ask ChatGPT to create a typical exam question for say the Edexcel board on ‘A Streetcar Named Desire.’
On top of this, you could ask it to bullet point some ideas shaped around a model essay. Or ask it to write you a sample thesis statement to give you ideas on how to start.
Again, though, be aware that not all AI generated information may be accurate. While AI is a powerful tool, it’s crucial to use it responsibly:
- Don’t submit AI-generated content as your own. Plagiarism is considered malpractice and can lead to severe academic consequences.
- Always double-check against what you already know, or have been taught
Used sensibly, AI can help reinforce learning and improve retention.
Of course! Nothing beats…
The personal touch. As sophisticated as AI seems, it can never replace human intervention, encouragement or inspiration.
